Farms, construction sites, shop fronts under construction and remote storage yards often have no mains power and no internet line. Two kinds of camera are built for these places.

Solar cameras

A solar camera uses a solar panel and a rechargeable battery, so it needs no power cable. For reliable results, place the panel where it gets several hours of direct sunlight every day and keep it clean.

4G SIM cameras

A 4G camera has a SIM card slot and sends video over the mobile network, so it needs no WiFi or broadband. You need a data plan and good mobile coverage at the spot, and it is worth checking signal strength before you fix the camera in place.

Using them together

Many remote installations combine both: a solar-powered 4G camera works anywhere the sun and the mobile network reach. Record to a memory card in the camera so footage is kept even if the signal drops for a while.
